Second year middle school & 14 year old, Amano Yukiteru, is a boy who has a problem with making friends. Yuki's only salvation from solitude are his imaginary friends, one of whom turns out to be the not so imaginary Deus Ex Machina, an apparent lord of time and space. A spectacular story full of twists and double crosses ensues as the twelve diary holders scramble to find each others' identities while keeping themselves alive.

Cheap Manga presents Human Clock, a classical manga! Warning: A very very alternative story that's heavily surrealistic and extremely demented. Reader receptions range from "Kafka-esque" to "trippy, weird" to "what the f**k is this garbage?" Someone(Highway_STAR) actually thought there were similarities between this and Kafka's Metamorphis and suggested reading Metamorphis first before reading this. From Manga Zombie: "When I talk about ‘warped manga from a warped mind’, I always think of this incoherent story. The Human Clock is a lot simpler to summarize than to understand. The hero is Yubi Chizuo again; he’s a student like before, but this time round he’s also a dropout. He stays in his house, which is a family shop selling watches and clocks. He gazes and gazes at them, and little by little, turns into one himself. That is the entire story. It reminds me of Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis."

She moves back to her old home town only to find that the high school is run by two opposing factors, and students identify themselves based on the color of their school uniforms: Black for the followers of the loud, violent Nishizaki, and white for the followers of quiet, clean-freak Isshiki. And then there are the "grays," who wear street clothes. Hina finds herself stuck between the leaders of the two factions, and it seems to be turning violent. As one might guess from the girly art and the Ribon publisher, the plot develops a romance element pretty early on in the series. There's a love square involved among the leaders of the groups. Who will Hina choose?

Palepoli goes beyond the framework of standard four-panel manga and views its structure in new ways. Actually, Furuya knew nothing of conventional manga styles and methods when he started Palepoli. As a result, he created something that bore little similarity to other manga. Furuya notes that he selects his subject matter and methods with clear and precise intentions. I find it extremely rare for a manga artist to be this deliberate. A portion of Palepoli was featured in Secret Comics Japan.

Rose Hip Rose is a manga about a teenage girl who fights crime. While the setup doesn't sound so great, it gets better as the manga progresses. The series' major strong point is the art. Along the way, she ends up having a showdown with a major criminal named The Goat. However, it seems that The Goat doesn't seem to like being caught. Be wary, though, the series is very violent. The art and story are by Fujisawa Tohru, author of GTO and Bad Company. The art is quite nice, but somewhat different from GTO's. If you like violence, gore, Fujisawa, or cacti, Rose Hip Rose is the manga for you. Oh yeah, did I mention it was violent?
